Calpine Geothermal Visitor Center

The Calpine Geothermal Visitor Center takes visitors on an educational journey to The Geysers geothermal field, the largest geothermal power-generating operation in the world. Calpine needed a complete redesign of the space and an update of all the exhibits.

Partnering with Gyroscope Inc., a museum exhibit design firm based in Oakland CA, Delphi went to work on exhibit fabrication, AV system design and integration, graphics production, digital content, and more. The Global Zoom exhibit we created uses touchscreens that allow visitors to drag their finger across the screen and zoom over a map of The Geysers area to a 3D model of a Calpine power plant, then journey even further to view the underground reservoir.

One of the more impressive exhibits we created is an interactive display where visitors can review real-time seismic data visualizations from over the land or underground. The user can change the data views to see various seismic events thanks to a network of closely spaced seismometers installed at The Geysers by Calpine and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
